HID Global seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to be an integral member of the Manufacturing Engineering Team.  The Manufacturing Engineer is primarily responsible for new product introduction efforts with a focus on production processes for electro- mechanical products and production verification testing, writing processes and developing detailed work instructions.
 

What you will be doing

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in support of global production processes and yield improvements.
  • Troubleshoot product functionality as related to tooling and / or process related issues.
  • Design, fabrication, documentation and test of various electro-mechanical fixtures and functional test equipment.
  • Coordinate production line set-up (NPI) and the development of maintenance and calibration procedures with our Contract Manufacturers.
  • Support Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) projects and workshops.
  • Implement engineering changes to production parts or processes.
  • Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Prepare reports - collecting, analyzing process test and capability data (yields, cycle times, trends, etc.)
  • Work closely with the Contract Manufacturer to design, develop, and setup production lines.
  • Develop production relevant documentation as e.g. work instructions, process flow charts
  • Supports DFM and DFMEA and PFMEA for NPI products (Development PIP)


What we are looking for    

  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment, limited supervision.
  • Knowledgeable in product testing and measurement methods/tools highly desired
  • Mechanical aptitude with an emphasis on the ability to troubleshoot prototype designs.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and work instruction creation addition to calibration and maintenance procedures
  • Ideal candidate would be a “Maker” or “Tinkerer” and willing and comfortable digging into anything albeit mechanical, electrical, or software.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in the English language verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical journals, specifications, international technical standards, etc.
  • Ability to read electronic schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Candidate should have a strong mechanical design background with extensive experience with mechanical CAD tools like Solid Works.
  • Experience with Solid Works is preferred
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems like Oracle and Agile platforms
  • Familiar with microcontrollers like Arduino or equivalent is a plus.
  • Experience with Linux Operating Systems is a plus.


Who you are

  • 5 - 10 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience with demonstrable experience
  • Minimum 2-year degree from an accredited Tech School with equivalent work experience.  A 4-year B.S. degree in Electrical, Mechanical and/or Manufacturing Engineering desired.
  • Education or equivalent experience in electro-mechanical design in a production environment is preferred.
  • 3 – 5 years of recent experience using computer aided design (CAD) to develop and document mechanical and electrical assembly and / or functional test fixtures.
