The NPI Buyer Planner role is a part of the Global Supply Chain team pivotal in the commercialization of new products from development to manufacturing.  This role will drive and execute material plans working with Design Engineering and Category Management for new product ramp plans.  This person will be an active participant in new product introduction team as the key procurement contact for tactical material status.  Critical BOM risk analysis and order release tracking to meet planned schedules along with providing updated material program status will be the main function of this role. This individual will ensure that all buying decisions support the specific needs and requirements of the business unit.

What you will be doing

  • Proactive communication with vendors and project teams is critical to success.
  • Interface with the CM or HID factory responsible for the actual product build; manage and oversee the technology transfer prototype centers to production factory
  • Oversee the CM’s NPI team to ensure a smooth transition through design, launch and ramp
  • Assess NPI bill of materials for lifecycle and risk issues (Long lead-items, supply chain capacity issues, obsolescence)
  • Support manufacturing issues and continuous improvement actions
  • Provide feedback to appropriate departments of the CM partner to meet the requirements
  • Develop strong relationships internally with stakeholders, with the various functions at the CM partner, and with OEM suppliers.
  • Support weekly NPI deliverables to enable engineering to successfully develop new products
  • Participate in the monthly NPI Readiness meetings to develop a common, agreed-upon Plan; participate in the Engineering PDP gate reviews
  • Interact with Global Planning for all new product introductions to analyze ramp to demand
  • Assist with or lead supplier negotiations and contract development
  • Develop supplier implementation plans in alignment with Global Supply Chain strategies
  • Ensures and monitors company compliance with contractual obligations, sourcing policies, and preferred supplier arrangements
  • Demonstrated knowledge of multistage NPI/Product launch Processes & Tools with an eagerness to develop NPI sourcing processes to enable standardized NPI development

What we are looking for    

  • Prefer a Bachelor’s degree in business or Supply Chain with minimum 5 to 8 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a minimum of 5-8 years broad manufacturing management experience
  • Experience developing supply agreements and managing supplier relationships
  • Familiarity with software applications such as Oracle and Agile is desirable
