Summary

Working in a small, versatile team, the candidate's work will be involved in product design and sustaining activities on a range of Access Control Controllers as well PACS RFID access products which are sold worldwide. The candidate needs to be able to effectively manage their time to support work on a variety of products at different stages of the product's lifecycle, and to be able to collaborate well with colleagues from different departments both onsite and overseas. Occasional travel may be required.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Design and Development of Physcial Access Controller electronics
  • Physical Access Controller Schematic Design using Altium
  • Physical Access Controller PCB layout using Altium
  • Document control and management using Agile
  • Investigating and resolving customer issues relating mainly to Pysical Access Controllers and PACS RFID Readers
  • Investigating and resolving customer installation issues mainly relating to Physical Access  Controllers and PACS RFID Readers
  • Assist the Hardware NPI (New Product Introduction) Development team with new product designs when needed
  • Assist with Sustaining and VAVE (Value Add / Value Engineering) tasks – cost down investigations, production efficiencies and feature improvements on current products
  • Researching and implementing alternative components to assist with Contract Manufacture Supply Chain

  • Embedded Linux Development (Multi-media Co-Processors)
  • High Speed DDR interfacing
  • Multi layer PCBs / Flex rigid, with blind and buried micro Vias
  • Power Supply design including SMPS DC-DC low voltage
  • Communication Interfaces (eg I2C, I2S, SPI, UART, MIPI DSI)
  • Ethernet including PoE
  • Embedded Microcontrollers (eg ARM, Micrchip, AVR, Atmel, STM32)
  • Wireless Interfaces (eg BLE, WiFi)
  • RFID
  • Antenna design

 

  • Education and/or Experience          
  • Degree level in Engineering or related subject, 5 - 10 years’ experience in Engineering

 

  • Language Skills                   
  • Ability to effectively communicate in the English language, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical journals, specifications, international technical standards (ISO, UL), etc.               

 

Computer Skills     

  • Proficient in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Familiar with operating systems, such as Windows, etc.
  • CAD Tools (eg Altium, Solidworks)
  • Simulation Tools (eg CST Studio, LTSpice)
  • Document Control (eg Agile)
  • Collaboration Tools (eg Confluence, Wiki)
