We are seeking a Sales Engineer to work in collaboration with the sales organization and particularly Inside Sales to support the successful positioning of the HID Workforce Identity Management Business Unit product portfolio with prospective customers. 

Sales Engineers have a technical and product expert role. They facilitate the business conversation by handling product demonstrations, technical questions and employing themselves to solve business issues through the technical solution. The role of Sales Engineer is a technical one and requires a detailed understanding of Information Technology, Infrastructure, Protocols and Standards.

Additionally, the role requires strong business acumen to understand customer needs and pain points

and translate them to a technology solution along with an ability to cultivate long lasting relations with customers through a mix of personality, customer-facing demeanor, domain expertise and integrity.

The ideal candidate should enjoy working on a remote team and with multiple account managers, partners and end customers throughout the Americas.  You will be required to be a self-motivated individual showing initiative and capable of communicating at all levels of an organization. 
 

What you will be doing

  • Work with Inside Sales during the sales cycle to qualify, position, prove and demonstrate how HID Workforce Identity Management Business Unit solutions can help the customer address and exceed their business requirements.
  • Attend customer workshops and meetings as trusted advisor and subject matter expert on Workforce Identity Management Business Unit solutions whilst helping customers overcome technical objections relating to the procurement of HID Workforce Identity Management Business Unit products
  • Speak/Present directly to customers on behalf of HID and/or our Partners
  • Represent HID Global at trade shows and public speaking events
  • Lead in-depth technical discussions with partners, customers and internal resources alike
  • Work with multiple partners and account managers
  • Ability to listen and understand the overall goals of a customer, and how best to design a solution that will work in large scale diverse environments
  • Work with global cross-functional teams (Sales, Product Management, Technical Services and Engineering) in order to provide ensure feedback from the field is provided to the relevant teams
  • Follow market trends within information security and Identity and Access Management whilst contributing to continuous innovation and improvement.

What we are looking for    

  • BSc (or equivalent education) in Computing, a Physical Science or Engineering or at least two years of relevant industry experience, comfortable with business and technical aspects.
  • Motivated, hard-working team player with initiative and able to self-manage
  • Passionate about IT and IT Security
  • Knowledge on how IT security products are applied in the market to address needs such as identity management, identification, authentication, digital signing of transactions, non-repudiation, privacy, and confidentiality is a plus.
  • Knowledge on some of the following technologies: authentication, cryptography, network security, smart cards, visitor management and physical identity access management is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Server platforms and/or Linux, SaaS platforms and VMs
  • An understanding of (some of the following) system and network components such as Operating Systems, LDAP, Databases, Web applications, network protocols (SSL/TLS, VPN, IPSec, RDP, RADIUS), PACS, network security (firewalls, DMZ), PKI and Smart Cards
  • Knowledge of database systems such as SQL server and Oracle
  • Understanding of integration requirements such as (REST and SOAP) APIs, SDKs and micro-services
  • Knowledge of SAML, RADIUS, LDAP, AD, Azure AD
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Some experience and understanding of UI design and UX to drive better end-user experience.
  • Exposure to development languages such as Java and C++ development skills.
  • Basic understanding of applicable industry standards and regulations such as
    • FIPS201
    • FIPS140
    • CJIS
    • HIPA
    • EMV
    • PSD2
    • GDPR
  • A willingness to learn and develop skills around industry standards such as: X.509, PKCS#11, OpenID, OAuth, FIDO2, etc.
  • A willingness to learn and develop knowledge concerning regulatory standards applicable to our business.
