Summary:  The Material Handler will be responsible for production inventory, ensuring stock accuracy while maintaining flow of material to meet Production demand. The Material Handler will work closely with the Material Controller Lead and the Control Tower team to ensure service levels are met. This is a dynamic role to implement consistent, repeatable best practice in stock management with intent to provide a global model.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Take responsibility for HID inventory.
  • Become one of the primary point of contact for stock control and flow between HID and 3PL.
  • Implement and manage the execution of lean materials processes including the Kanban (pull) system, receiving, shipping, and material storage.
  • Ability to identify areas of improvement within the department.
  • Proactively escalate opportunities for improvement in order to minimize safety, quality and delivery issues.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 and quality inspection processes (AQL sampling plans e.g. ISO/ANSI standards.)
  • Track and communicate key metrics including schedule adherence, service level, and inventory level.

 

Personal Competencies:

  • Ability to lead and motivate without direct reporting authority is required
  • Prior experience working in a Production/Warehouse Environment is desired.
  • Must possess an innate sense of collaboration and interpersonal abilities as success of this role will depend on strong relationships with peers in other areas.
  • Must be familiar with routing slips, material requisitions, and job / work orders.
  • Must have flexibility to work overtime as required (including weekends) and periodically work a different shift. 
  • Skilled at managing time and priorities

 

Qualifications / Experience, Knowledge & Skills Requirements:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Production/Warehouse environment is required
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Familiar with Oracle or similar ERP system

Language Skills                   

  • Ability to effectively communicate in the English language verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical journals, specs, international technical standards, etc.              

 

Work Environment

  • Employee works primarily in a fast paced production environment, within a well ventilated area, and is exposed to moderate noise levels, frequent physical activity lifting up to 40 lbs, able to stand and walk continuously during assigned shift.
  • Must have flexibility to work overtime as required (including weekends) and periodically work a different shift.
