HID Global seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to be an integral member of the Manufacturing Engineering Team. Manufacturing Engineering contributes to the success of HID by ensuring new products are effectively introduced into manufacturing, lead Value Analysis and Value Engineering of our products and processes and provide sustaining product and process support to our fulfillment centers and Contract Manufacturers.


What we are looking for:

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Able to fully design and fully document robust complex mechanical tooling used in manufacturing environments.
  • Check completed engineering drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications and accuracy of calculations, tolerances and dimensions
  • Investigate design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, system reliability and serviceability.
  • Identify and analyze design and manufacturing problems and provide solutions
  • Perform reliability analysis, tolerance stack ups, and Failure Modes and Effects analysis (FMEA)
  • Participate on multi-discipline development and corrective action teams. 
  • Assist in management of New Product Introduction transitions through design and into Production
  • Support production efforts at global Contract Manufacturers and Suppliers
  • Support development of Contract Manufacturers and Suppliers
  • Responsible for developing and approving manufacturing processes for new product introductions and for sustaining of current production
  • Coordination of prototype/beta builds
  • Contribute to VA/VE and cost reduction efforts for all products and processes
  • Perform electrical fault analysis on products
  • Setup, maintain, and perform fault analysis on programming and electrical test fixtures
  • Work directly with the contract manufacturer and suppliers to ensure products meet specification

  • Must be able to work with suppliers and contract manufacturers to fabricate prototype and production parts and related tooling
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Mandarin
  • Possess strong organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple priorities at once
  • Possess ability to develop and implement metrics for manufacturing processes
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be proficient at conflict resolution


Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering
  • 4-7 years of Manufacturing Engineering Experience
  • Experience with SolidWorks CAD is preferred
  • Experience with design/manufacturing of electro-mechanical products is preferred
  • Experience with design of assembly tools and production fixtures
  • Experience in implementing and analyzing Statistical Process Controls
  • Experience with design of plastic parts, injection molding, machined parts, and electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Experience with production of electro-mechanical products
  • Experience with RFID based product technologies is preferred
  • Experience with the manufacture and test of printed circuit boards is preferred


In addition, successful candidates will have the following profile:

  • Experience with international contract manufacturers is preferred
  • Experience using Lab View and ability to create test programs is preferred
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification or higher is desired
  • Experience working with Lean Manufacturing tools and methodologies is preferred


Language Skills        

  • Ability to effectively communicate in the English language verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in Mandarin verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, technical journals, specifications, international technical standards, etc.                            


Computer Skills

  • Proficient in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Experience with Solid Works is preferred
  • Working knowledge of Oracle and Agile platforms

  • Support operations in the daily process of fulfilling production orders.
  • Has desire to provide the customer with the highest quality products.
  • Understand and actively demonstrate the principles of HID customer centricity policy.

Work Environment

  • Employee works primarily in both an office and in a production environment, within a well-ventilated area, and is exposed to moderate noise levels.

  • Standing for extended periods of time, working from 8-10 hours


Work Requirements

  • Compliance to all relevant HID Global policies and procedures related to Quality, Security, Safety, Business Continuity, and Environmental systems.
  • Travel and fieldwork including international travel, therefore employee must possess or can acquire a valid passport.
